American tennis legend, Reilly Opelka, was fined $10,000 by the US Open the other day. For this:

Yes. He was fined for his bag. Not because it was pink. Or it was the wrong kind of bag. Or because the logo on it was too big… oh, no wait, that was why. The words “Time Van Laere Gallery,” which is a thing a clearly, was too big. It didn’t conform to the 4″x4″ guidelines that everyone knows about.

The sanctity of the US Open must be upheld, I agree. This one feels like we’re grasping at straws though. If you’re gonna fine him, do it because he’s using a bag that I could get for free from Festival. You could fit a lot of frozen pizzas in that bad boy.

Opelka seems to be taking it all in stride. He plays in the 4th Round tomorrow, and made sure to update his bag after his fine.
